The Office of Career and Technical Ó£»¨¶¯Âþ (CTE) works to foster statewide equity in access and quality of CTE programs through its roles and responsibilities to:ÌýÌý
- provide technical assistance and support for the content areas of agriculture, business and marketing, computer science, family and consumer sciences, health sciences, technology education, and trade and technical education,Ìý
- serve as liaison to and collaborate with regional, state, and national CTE organizations and stakeholders,
- review applications for state approval of CTE programs,
- administer the Perkins V Strengthening Career and Technical Ó£»¨¶¯Âþ for the 21st Century Act, and
- perform civil rights reviews to ensure compliance with federal civil rights laws.Ìý
The office also approves all Driver and Traffic Safety Ó£»¨¶¯Âþ (DTSE) programs offered by public and nonpublic secondary schools, colleges, and BOCES.Ìý

CTE Technical Assistance Center (CTE TAC)Ìý
Operated by the Successful Practices Network (SPN) through a Perkins-funded contract with the NYSED, the CTE TAC increases the capacity of the NYSED to serve, support, and expand CTE across the state. In supporting the NYSED CTE Perkins V State Plan priorities, the CTE TAC:Ìý
- provides services to high need/underperforming districts, BOCES, and postsecondary institutions,
- assists districts/BOCES/postsecondary institutions as they improve equity in and access to CTE with an emphasis on special populations,
- assists districts with data collection, analysis, and reporting, particularly as it relates to the Perkins Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment (CLNA),Ìý
- assists in building and leveraging regional collaborative efforts among secondary and postsecondary CTE programs with business and industry, and
- provides professional development to reduce performance gaps with a focus on at-risk students.Ìý
